Piggie Party!!

Finally I can share with you mi favorite photos from my daughter's birthday party!
She's a piggie lover and this is all she's been wanting since last years Charlie and Lola's classroom party!

I've been preparing for some time, even had an all nighter creating and designing... but it was worth it!
I truly loved the end result, but I wish I had more time or more helping hands... not all of my ideas could be executed because people began to arrive to the party!!!  I vowed not to do another party away from my home because I was only allowed to do so much in the neighborhood clubhouse and to arrive there to decorate  3hrs. before the party, so all future parties will be held at home!!

Por fin puedo compartir con ustedes mis fotos favoritas de la fiesta de mi hija, ella es amante de los cochitos y esto es lo que me ha pedido desde su ultima fiesta!!!
Me prepare con bastante tiempo, hasta pase una noche sin dormir creando y disenando... pero valio la pena!  Realmente estoy contenta con el resultado final,  si me hubiera gustado tener mas tiempo y mas ayuda...  de hecho, no todas mis ideas puedieron realizarse porque la gente comenzo a llegar a la fiesta!! He prometido no volver a hacer una fiesta fuera de casa porque en nuestra casa club solo nos permitieron hacer algunas cosas y ademas solo decorar el salon 3 hrs antes del evento, asi es que el proximo festejo y todo las futuras fiestas seran en casa!!

StarWars dessert table (bar)

A few days ago I shared that I was preparting to set a Starwars dessert bar for my nephew's birthday party, as I told you before... I am new to the boy scene.  All my experience has been with girl parties, i've done rockstar, alice in wonderland, build a bear, minnie mouse, dumbo's circus, wizard of oz and lady bugs....   StarWars is my very first boy themed dessert table, and to be my first I thought it went pretty good... what do you think?

Pretzel Stick light saber dipped in chocolate and in colored candy coating.

Marshmallow Stormtrooper with chocolate pipped masks!

Yoda Yummies.... a variety of chocolates in silver and blue.

Clear cups with "Tostitos" and "churritos" filled the levels of the Dark Force Tower!

DeathStar Pops were cake balls on a stick!

These gumball skewers were one of my favorite... green/brown for Yoda and red/black for Vader!

Brownies with chocolate ganache coating in star shaped pans with hand made toppers!

Oreo pops w/sprinkles resembled Chubacca's fur!

my signature caramel/chocolate dipped granny smith apples in Yoda and Dath colors!

to top off the dark force tower I used tamarind rods as Darth Vader's red lightsaber!

other quotes from the movie were used throughout the party,

Jedi Juice was used at the beverage stand,

and "StarWars Coffee" was cleverly used by the cofffee machine!

my cards are here finally!  They look good but with one huge problem : my name is not on them... I don't know what happened, was it my mistake or theirs... but the companies name IS on it, aswell as all the contact information so I will hand them out and hope for the best!


por fin llegaron mis tarjetas!  Se ven bien pero tienen un gran error:  no tienen mi nombre!!!   No se que sucedio... si fue mi error o de ellos, pero el nombre de la compania si esta bien asi como toda la informacion de contacto, telefonos y correos electronicos...   asi que las repartire, y esperare lo mejor!

and still no delivery... no business cards; had to come up with something last minute with some colorful cardstock and colored sharpies to hand out on Saturdays birthday party!


But thank God the candy/tostitos bar was a success! Everything turned out perfect, well almost, once again I had no time to put on the hanging banner of silver stars (was suppose to hang on the skirt of the table) and the background was not added to this table because of the way the back wall and window were....  oh well, all in all it turned out good and most of the guests were impressed and asked me about my work!!!

y aun sin mi pedido...  sin tarjetas de presentacion;  tuve que improvisar unas con carton de colores y unos  plumones para repartir el Sabado en la fiesta de cumpleanos!


Pero, gracias a Dios la mesa de tostitos/postres fue un exito!  Todo salio perfecto, bueno casi, una vez mas no tuve tiempo para colgar un adorno de estrellas,  ni el fondo;  la pared de atras tenia una ventana que no coopero conmigo, ademas la textura de la pared hizo que el fondo no funcionara... en fin,  (casi) todo salio como planeado o mejor y la mayoria de la gente estuvo impresionada con mi trabajo y lo mejor, insinuaron futuras fiestas en las que podre asistirles!!!!

Overnight prints NOT really over night!!!!!!!

So I have a very big event this Saturday and I purposely ordered my business cards with this company named after their promise to send them while you sleep, and I ordered with them because they would get here on time, even dough you pay extra for the overnight or express delivery... and dont have as many design options as other companies, they do have good prices and discounts; but NOT to my surprise I just received an email saying how sorry they are but do to production problems my order will not get to me by the schedule date.....  AARGGGHH!!!!!

I've should've know.  I will try to cancel my order and order the Moo! ones I LOVED, and print some computer made ones or have my daughter draw a picture of a dessert table and print that to use this Saturday!

Tengo un evento algo grande este Sabado y con el proposito de llevar algo de publicidad decidi ordenar unas tarjetas de presentacion en una compania que promete (como su nombre lo dice) mandarte tu pedido mientras duermes, las ordene con ellos precisamente para tenerlas a tiempo para mi gran evento.  Aun cuando tuve que pagar extra por el pronto envio y no tienen muchos disenos de donde escoger, decidi con ellos por su buen precio y porque tenian una promocion, pero NO para mi sorpresa acabo de recibir un correo electronico donde me dicen que lo sienten pero por problemas de produccion mi orden no llegara el dia previsto.....   QUEEEEEEEE!!!!!!


Lo devi de haber imaginado!  Tratare de cancelar mi orden y hacer otro pedido con Moo!!!, esas si me fascinaron!  Aparte tendre que imprimir o hacer a mano unas provisionales para el Sabado!

Two new parties to obsess about....

As each day passes by,  sunny weather seems to get closer... and more birthday parties also!!
Many of you with winter babies postpone birthday parties for more comfortable weather in order to have them outside, have pool or park parties. I agree 100%.  I have a November girl and a December baby, the other one is a March baby, but sometimes even spring park parties tend to be a bit chilly!
With this in mind I am looking forward for a summer season full of party plannig; to begin with a close friend asked for my help to come up with a Kai Lan dessert table.... candy sushi here I come!  Can't wait to put up colorful lanterns, paper hand fans, origami decorations and sweet rice krispi and gummy sushi.
Another party that has me thinking and thinking of many wonderful ideas is for my baby nephew who's turning 1 in June....  a Mexican Vintage Toy party!!! Wow, now this one's close to my heart! I LOVE my countries culture and folklore...  and kermesse style or feria style birthdays at the park are my favorite!


Conforme pasan los dias, el calorcito se acerca...   y asi, mas y mas fiestas de cumpleanos!!
Muchas de ustedes que tienen hijos nacidos en tiempos de frio posponen el festejo para tenerlos en fechas que se prestan mejor para tener la fiesta al aire libre, hacer albercadas o en tenerlas en los parques.     Yo estoy de acuerdo totalmente;  tengo una hija de Noviembre y mi bebe es de Diciembre, mi otra hija es de Marzo pero aun las fiestas de primavera,  sobre todo en parques,   pueden ser un poco frias!
Con esto en mente, ya comienzo a prepararme para un verano lleno de festejos y preparativos. 
Para comenzar,  una muy buena amiga me pidio ayuda con la mesa de postres para su hija, con tema de "Kai Lan".... por fin podre preparar sushi de dulce!     Me imagino lamparas orientales de todos colores, avanicos de papel, decoraciones de origami y sushi hecho a base de cereal de arroz y gomitas.


Otra fiesta que me trae la cabeza dando vueltas es la de mi sobrinito que pronto cumplira uno el mes de Junio.... y sera de "Juguetes Mexicanos tradicionales"!!!!  Este tema si que me emociona, amo mi pais y su cultura y folklore...  de hecho, las fiestas tipo feria o kermesse son mis favoritas!

                                    

                                      

I am thinking of a mexican candy dessert table, traditional peanut bark (pepitorias), mazapan,  dulce de leche-jamoncillos, ate de guayaba, obleas, glorias, tamarindos, saladitos, paleta de elote, pelon pelorico and rielitos,  mmmmm.... my mouth is watering!


Estoy pensando en una probable mesa de dulces mexicanos, la tradicional pepitoria, mazapanes, dulce de leche o como les decimos en mi familia, jamoncillos, ate de frutas, obleas, glorias, tamarindo, saladitos, paletas de elote, pelon pelorico, y rielitos, mmmmm, se me hace agua la boca!

So, next Saturday is my nephew's birthday party and I'm in charge of the "tostilocos" and the dessert table.
StarWars is a very common selection for boys and since I have two daughters and a baby boy, I havent had any experience with boy parties.... all my ideas seem to come in pink, yellow, red, aqua and lavender!
Nevertheless, other moms have inspired me to create an "outta this world" blue, black and grey table with touches of green (yoda) and red (darth vader).
The names for the snacks are so creative: Yoda Soda, Wookie Cookies, DeathStar pops, Pretzel Light Sabers and Light/Dark side cupcakes!
  
El proximo Sabado es la fiesta de cumpleanos de mi sobrino y estoy encargada de la mesa de tostilocos y postres.  El tema es Star Wars, o Guerra de las Galaxias... un tema ya comun para ninos pero, yo tengo poca o nada de experiencia en fiestas de ninos ya que tengo dos nenas y un bebe... todas las ideas vienen a mi en rosa, amarillo, rojo, aqua y lila!  Sin embargo, otras mamas me han llenado de inspiracion para crear una mesa "fuera de este mundo" en negro, azul y gris con toques de verde (yoda) y rojo (Darth Vader).
Los letreritos de los postres son muy originales: Yoda Soda (soda de Yoda), Wookie Cookies (galletas de Wookie), DeathStar Pops (paletas DeathStar) , Pretzel  Light Sabers (Espadas tipo light saber de palitos de pretzel) y Light/Dark side cupcakes (bollitos de la fuerza oscura y blanca)!
